Collecting accurate building measurements is a vital stage in any architectural project requiring any change to an existing building. However there are two major difficulties in collecting the right information:

• Getting the survey completed in a timely and cost effective manner by using external organisations.
• Specifying exactly what information needs to be measured and to what accuracy.

With MBS Software you can take control of the survey yourself and ensure that your needs are exactly met. Surveys can easily be undertaken that meet the RICS specification "Surveys of Land, Buildings and Utility Services at Scales of 1:500 and Larger Client Specification Guidelines 2nd Edition" for unconnected, semi-connected and fully-connected surveys.

• Un-Connected - An un-connected survey would be used for purposes such as determining lettable areas on a room by room basis.
• Semi-Connected - A semi-connected survey would be used for purposes such as internal refurbishment without major structural alterations. One floor (normally the ground floor) is surveyed with all parts connected by instrumental control. Other floors are matched by assuming verticality of common features.
• Fully-Connected - A fully-connected survey would be used where the precise relationship between different parts of the building is required, such as during major structural alterations. Only by this method can a vertical relationship between elements of the structure be determined. All floors are instrumentally related to a common survey control framework.
