Leica held their annual golf day at Staverton Park near Daventry this year with a new format. Staverton Park Golf Club is a championship standard 18 hole golf course, with 4 small lakes and 64 American-style sand traps, set in 140 acres of Northamptonshire countryside.
The day attracted around 80 golfers who met for a light breakfast before embarking on the days events.
Instead of the usual 9-hole Texas Scramble, the morning we spent in 3 groups having a 40 minute lesson with the club's golf pros, learning the finer points of the game in the three main areas of driving, chipping and putting.
Following a light lunch, a full handicap 18-hole stableford competition filled the rest of the day, before retiring to watch the remainder of the Germany v Argentina World Cup Quarter Final.
Following a quick shower and change, dinner (a fabulous BBQ) commenced followed by after dinner speeches and prizes - to this day no-one is quite sure how John Fraser managed 44 stableford points!. Yet again the event turned into another early hours outing.
We'd like to thank John Fraser for our invitations and Paula Cooper for organising yet another memorable Leica golf day
