The Hope Ball 2006 - Effingham Park Hotel, Copthorne

Hopeball 2006This year was the 5th anniversary of this event and MBS Software and Maltby Land Surveys supported the ball with the same level of enthusiasm as previous year, and again the event attracted over 350 people, raising over £16,000 for two charities (see below).

The day started in the afternoon with 9 holes of (crazy!) golf, whilst the ladies amongst us enjoyed the more relaxing side of the facilities - namely the beauty and massage suite, before the evening activities commenced at around 7.30pm.

Pre-dinner drinks were followed by a fabulous 3-course meal and the now legendary charity auction. The items auctioned this year included:-

  • Use for day of the Lloyds of London 53 foot yacht Lutine (MLS & MBS bid on this in 2004 - want to see what happened? - Click here) (raised £3500)
  • Signed and authenticated Queen album (raised £1200).
  • An afternoon for four with Jeff Stelling at the team at Sky Sports Saturday.
  • Various signed football and rugby shirts.

This event is incredible fun, but it must be rememembered why it is we support it so much each year. The aim of the evening is to raise money for the following two worthwhile charities:-

Treloar School
Treloar School is a special school in Hampshire providing young people with physical disabilities with the education, training, care, confidence, skills and support to achieve the best they can, in all aspects of life (more...)

Marie Curie
Marie Curie Cancer Care is a comprehensive cancer care charity, providing practical nursing care at home and specialist multi-disciplinary care through its ten Marie Curie Centres (more...)
