The Hope Ball 2005 - Effingham Park Hotel, Copthorne

Hopeball 2005This year MBS Software and Maltby Land Surveys pushed the boat out and invited close friends and clients, totalling nearly 50 people. The event is fast becoming a major calendar date for us and this year had a record attendance of over 350 people, raising over £16,000 for two charities (see below).

The day started in the afternoon with 9 holes of golf (do we know any other way of relaxing?), whilst the ladies amongst us enjoyed the more relaxing side of the facilities - namely the pampering suite!, before the evening activities commenced at around 7.30pm.

Pre-dinner drinks were followed by a fabulous 3-course meal and the now legendary charity auction. The items auctioned this year included:-

  • Signed and authenticated "Imagine" album by John Lennon.
  • Signed and authenticated Rolling Stones album, including original band member Brian Jones who died in 1969.
  • Use for day of the Lloyds of London 53 foot yacht Lutine (We bid on this in 2004 - want to see what happened? - Click here)
  • An afternoon for four with Jeff Stelling at the team at Sky Sports Saturday.
  • A Mercedes SLK pedal sportscar

This event is incredible fun, but it must be rememembered why it is we support it so much each year. The aim of the evening is to raise money for the following two worthwhile charities:-

Treloar School
Treloar School is a special school in Hampshire providing young people with physical disabilities with the education, training, care, confidence, skills and support to achieve the best they can, in all aspects of life (more...)

Marie Curie
Marie Curie Cancer Care is a comprehensive cancer care charity, providing practical nursing care at home and specialist multi-disciplinary care through its ten Marie Curie Centres (more...)
