Cityscape 2004 - Old Truman Brewery, London E1

Truman BreweryMBS Software and Leica Geosystems recently took a stand at the first Cityscape exhibition at the Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane, London. The 2 day show comprised of a conference, exhibition and seminar programme, covering all areas of regeneration of urban areas of the UK.

The event, which was sponsored by (including others) the RICS and the RIBA, was attended by professionals involved in both public and private commercial schemes, together with government planners and development agencies. Exhibitors included a wide variety of organisations from architects to construction lawyers to professional model makers, presenting a variety of professional high end services to prospective clients.

Andrew Maltby, Andy Roberts & Carl CavalloThe event aimed to address many regeneration issues which effect the whole of the UK, such as the impact of the new planning legislation, sustainability in development, private finance initiatives and also focus on the very specific issues which face London and the South East, such as the regeneration of the Thames Gateway, the impact of the Olympics, and Transport Planning for London. MBS Software, as well as having a stand presence with Leica conducted two 20 minute presentations as part of the seminar programme.  Our presentations differed greatly from the rest of the programme in that it was conducted as a real-time demonstration of our software and the latest Bluetooth Disto.

On the stand, which was manned by MBS, Leica and Maltby Land Surveys staff, a Leica sponsored remote controlled car was offered with every sale of the new Leica Disto Classic 5a.

Lord RogersAdditionally at the evening drinks reception, Lord Richard Rogers (Chief Architectural Advisor to the Mayor of London) launched "Living Roofs", a jointly signed statement promoting green roofs, roof terraces and roof gardens across London.  The aim is for this concept to form part of London's urban regeneration and help to maximise access to private open space for residents.
