Andy Roberts, Andrew Maltby and Jason Bird attended the first Autodesk User Group International (AUGI) CAD Camp event in the UK, held on the 20th June 2006 at the University of Guildford.

AUGI exists to represent the Autodesk user community and has two prime directives. The first is to assist its members by presenting programs, information, and encouraging communication among its 80,000 members to enhance their use of Autodesk products. The second is to deliver the voice of the user community to Autodesk, thus assisting Autodesk in product development and giving users a say in the process.
The event is similar to massive Autodesk University event held in the US and was a full day with over 20 classes covering a wide range of Autodesk products and their uses. Most of the classes were tailored to specific areas of Autodesk applications. The best attended class was that held by Lynn Allen, who is Autodesk's Technical Evangelist (a bit like Andy Maltby is to MBS - it's a private joke!). She is a great speaker who is infectious in her enthusiasm as well as knowing her onions and she presented a full hour on AutoCAD tips and Tricks. If anyone gets the chance to hear one of her seminars - we'd highly recommend it.
The day was well attended and well organised and should be a springboard for similar future events in the UK. The UK CAD Camp was extremely worthwhile with the emphasis on learning and we would urge all our users to consider next years event. AUGI's membership in the UK is growing and we would recommend anyone who uses Autodesk products to consider membership - especially as it is FREE!
The underlying theme of the event was "You don't know what you don't know". It's a very true statement.
