MBS Tools

VB Routine Processing Suite Within AutoCAD

MBS Tools

The tools have been written within AutoCAD's VBA programming language, with all versions of AutoCAD supported from the current version back to AutoCAD 2007. All of the Autodesk family products are supported including Architectural Desktop, Mechanical Desktop, Civil 3D, Building Systems and AutoCAD Electrical.

The tools offers several routines to assist the surveyor in the repetitive "Michelangelo" tasks associated with MBS DXF files - mainly the trimming of door and window blocks.

MBS Doors & MBS Windows are just two of the routines available - they both allow automatic trimming and positioning of the respective blocks as one AutoCAD command. It is not uncommon for floor plans to have in excess of 100 doors and 150 windows - manual trimming is a laborious, time consuming exercise at the best of times. MBS Tools offer huge office time savings.

There are several more routines that come bundled as part of the suite, with new routines being constantly added, based on User demand. The suite is only available and supported for AutoCAD products and requires MBS Training.

Benefits:

  • High productivity: Quick and efficient to use minimising office processing time.
  • Graphical output: Routines used allow uniformity and repeatability of processed blocks.

Minimum System Requirements:

  • Microsoft® Windows® 7 Enterprise, Ultimate, Professional, or Home Premium (compare Windows 7 versions); Microsoft® Windows Vista® Enterprise, Business, Ultimate, or Home Premium (SP1 or later) (compare Windows Vista versions); or Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional or Home edition (SP2 or later)
  • Windows Vista or Windows 7: Intel® Pentium® 4 or AMD Athlon® dual-core processor, 3.0 GHz or higher with SSE2 technology;

Our suite of Measured Building software is supplemented by a set of tools which operate within the AutoCAD environment; these include, but are not limited to:

MBS Doors Routine

Even on a small project there can still be in excess of 10 doors. It takes 17 button clicks of the mouse to ‘trim’ a door, so even when there appear to be very few doors, the time spent can very rapidly accumulate.

With MBS Doors you can:

  • Specify layers used.
  • Specify door jambs.
  • Specify door position within the wall cavity.

MBS Windows Routine

Even on a small project there can still be in excess of 10 windows. It takes 23 button clicks of the mouse to ‘trim’ a basic window, so even when there appear to be very few windows, the time spent can very rapidly accumulate.

With MBS Windows you can:

  • Specify layers used.
  • Specify window sill position and sizes.
  • Specify window frame position within the wall cavity.
  • Specify the size of the window frame block.
  • Specify shape and extents of window reveals.

MBS Ceiling Heights Routine

Even doing the simplest of edits can become time consuming, such as prefixing the ceiling height export with a CH or a CL.

With MBS Ceiling Heights you can:

  • Specify layers used.
  • Specify the bounding shape e.g. rectangle, circle or ellipse.
  • Specify the offset of the bounding shape.
  • Add a prefix or suffix to the Ceiling Height.
  • Display the height in millimetres or meters.
