RXS Tools, Hydrographic Software is a complete River Cross-Section program for Land & Hydrographic Surveyors. It is used as a tool for the production of data for flood defence management and channel maintenance in the form of reports and plotted CAD data.
The software runs within the AutoCAD environment and allows complete processing of field data into finished cross-section and long-section CAD drawing files. Raw field data can be downloaded and imported from total station and GPS instrumentation directly into the AutoCAD environment, and is modelled in true 3D along a pre-defined river centreline. All the standard AutoCAD tools are available for drawing, editing and manipulating lines, polylines, circles, text etc, ensuring short learning curves and immediate productivity. Editing of individual sections, layering, text and UCS manipulation is managed by the software, ensuring that consistency throughout the data is achieved at all stages of the process.
There is support for “linking” photographs into the model in their true locations, which can then be output into documents which meet the Environment Agency’s specification. The model can be interrogated by "Non-Users" of the software with a free Photo Viewer (AutoCAD is still required).
The software ensures that one single “Sectional Model” is used throughout, allowing exports in various formats for use by the Environment Agency and Hydrographic Modellers.

Geomatics Practices are often approached by a wide range of clients with the common request to produce a ‘River Cross-Section’.
However the exact requirement of a ‘River Cross-Section’ can range from a section showing the ‘lay of the land’ to one showing the major structural elements which restrict the flow of water.
Using the MBS RXS Tools software the Land Surveyor has the ability to liaise effectively with the client from the initial specification and location of sections through to the production of section data, thus ensuring that the specification and requirements of the project are always met.

The Environment Agency currently specifies the largest number of channel surveys in the UK. Their document outlining the standard specification for channel surveys is used to define the majority of all channel surveys in the UK. Not only does The Environment Agency use our software format as a specification tool, but new code now allows them to quality check all data provided to them by their survey sub-contractors.
Our ‘Key-plan’ generator tool, ability to link with photography, GIS packages and a direct output to the Environment Agency Channel Survey Data Format, have all been driven by our users needs to meet this specification.

Along with the Environment Agency EACSDF data output our MBS RXS Tools package exports to ISIS, TUFLOW, MIKE11 and HECRAS compatible data formats. Therefore Hydraulic Modellers using any of the industry standard packages can utilise data exported from our RXS Tools software package.
MBS RXS tools enables Hydraulic modellers to interrogate survey data (including photos) in a 3D geospatial environment as well as export the data to their chosen modelling package.

Real time graphical capture of all the elements required for the production of scale drawings of floor plans.
Enables the surveyor to measure elevations and view the elevation graphically as it is being measured.
Running inside AutoCAD it is designed to address the CAD issues back in the office, after all the data has been captured on site, e.g. the trimming of doors.
Running inside AutoCAD it is designed to automatically generate complete River Cross-Sections from field data.
Running inside AutoCAD it is designed to calculate daylight, sunlight and right of light.
