In addition to our software, MBS can supply the associated hardware that you will need to complete your survey. Be that a Bluetooth Disto, a tablet PC or the cable that connect your total station to your hardware.
Our MBS Floor Plans and Elevations software packages require only very basic system specifications, there are however additional criteria when deciding on a suitable field tool.
There are 2 options available in respect of the Bluetooth Disto's; the D8 or the D3aBT. Full details on both these units are found in the expanding section on this page.
With regard to handheld computers/tablet PC's, as a minimum the system should be Windows OS based and have: Touch screen, Lightweight, Built-in Bluetooth, Durable battery life or the option to change battery units and a minimum of 1 USB port (but ideally 2). We are currently recommending users to look at the Archos 9 tablet PC, although other recommendations can be made based on your needs, so please ask!
We offer an 'out of the box' solution to your hardware needs; for a nominal fee we source, set-up and supply the tablet PC and/or Disto, please contact us directly to discuss this option further.

The D8 has a lot of the familiar functions available on the earlier models, but this now includes a 360 degree tilt sensor; the combination of angle and distance measurement allows for the determination of distances where conventional measurements fail. The prime use of this function with our floor plans software is to obtain the true horizontal dimension, regardless of the inclination of the Disto.
The D8 has a Digital Pointfinder facility; this allows the user to view on a 2.4”colour screen exactly where the laser pointer is measuring to. A particularly useful addition when used to measure discrete points, such as the underside of an eave. The D8 will now measure to a range of 200 meters, the Pointfinder is a necessity in these circumstances, as you can now always see your targeted point.
The integrated Bluetooth technology allows measurements to be sent directly into any Bluetooth compatible unit, such as the handheld PC’s used to run the floor plans software. The Disto D8 also offers a minimum measurement of 50mm! View the user guide or view the quickstart manual.

The D3aBT has many similar functions to those found on the D8. The D3aBT has the benefit of Smart Horizontal Mode™, the combination of distance and tilt measurements allows you to be able to determine the horizontal distance precisely and simply. A true horizontal dimension is recorded when using the Disto when held within an inclination of +/- 45 degrees.
The D3aBT has the ability to measure up to 100 meters, and has integrated Bluetooth technology, allowing measurements to be sent directly into any Bluetooth compatible unit, such as the handheld PC’s used to run the floor plans software.
Like the D8, the D3aBT offers a minimum measurement of 50mm. View the user guide or view the quickstart manual.

The Archos 9 tablet PC is a great little Windows 7 based unit, with a 8.9" touch screen and interchangeable batteries makes it a perfect solution for running our floorplans and elevations software package.
The new 32GB SSD version is significantly quicker than the first released version of this tablet, and less demanding on battery resources. The unit is a maximum of 15mm thick and weighing in at just 800 grams. Battery life of is approximately 3-4hrs, and replacement batteries are readily available.
